At a ceremony in Nyamagabe, Rwanda on April 14, 2010, Golf Fore Africa founders Betsy King and Debbie Quesada joined 700 local residents, World Vision staff, and Rwandan government officials to dedicate the Uwinkingi Health Clinic. During the 2 hour ceremony Betsy, Debbie, the head of World Vision Rwanda, and local community leaders made speeches celebrating the opening of the clinic. Local youth groups danced and performed skits for the appreciative crowd that had waited over 2 hours for Betsy and Debbie to arrive. Betsy and Debbie also toured the new facilities and met 4 of the 10 nurses who will be working at the clinic. The clinic opened the day after the dedication and will be fully operational by July of this year.
World Vision has purchased $40,000 in medical supplies. The Rwandan government will provide the rest of the medical equipment and supplies for the clinic, as well as fund the day to day expenses. Betsy said “We are overwhelmed by the size of the clinic. The buildings are beautiful and very functionally designed. I am so grateful our Golf Fore Africa donors cared enough to support the construction of the clinic which is bringing life saving support to this community of 24,000 people.”
